In light of the ongoing uncertainty around the Covid-19 pandemic, we have decided to take the advice of the Irish Shows Association and the various government authorities. Reluctantly, we have decided that we will not be in a position to run our annual show on Sunday July 4th. While we are saddened to take this decision for a second year in a row, it is the only choice to make in the interest of public safety and out of respect to our exhibitors and sponsors. On a brighter note, at least we can say that we can see a chink of light at the end of the tunnel at this stage. Vaccines are finding their way into arms and businesses are beginning to open their doors again. We hope that we and all our fellow shows will be throwing the gates open wide in 2022 in whatever this “new normal” is that we keep hearing about.
The committee wishes to thank the ISA for their handling of this situation and their support and advice at all times.
We are very grateful to the Department of Rural and Community Development for allowing the grant money to be held in trust until next year and thank the ISA for facilitating this. We were also very grateful to receive the insurance rebate from the Department of Agriculture through the ISA. That funding is such a fantastic help to shows, and never more so than now.
We have not been sitting back and doing nothing. We have taken time to invest in a new website and show management system, powered by SuperShow. This will put us in a strong position to develop and enhance our show into the future and be ahead of the curve with whatever regulations will be required for a safe return to showing.
Depending on how things progress, we might be in a position to stage some small event or events later in the year to keep in touch with the community that has built and supported our show for more than 70 years.
We wish all of our friends and supporters well and urge you to support all of the local businesses who have supported us over the years. We all need to help each other up at this time.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
