Our renowned horse section is always a huge attraction, with exhibitors battling it out for both prizes and prestige, with an impressive array of silverware up for grabs.

We have classes for broodmares and foals, young stock, Irish Draughts, Thoroughbreds, ridden horses, cobs and coloured horses.

The highlight is the Murray Bros. Tarmacadam Broodmare Championship. This competition is run in two sections - heavyweight and lightweight - with the winners then competing against the Barren or Maiden Mare, the Thoroughbred Broodmare, and the Irish Draught Mare for the coveted Murray Bros. Tarmacadam Cup and the title of Overall Champion Broodmare of the Show. The Champion will receive €100 and the reserve will receive €50.

Another highlight is our All-Ireland Young Handler Championship which has been kindly sponsored by The Department of Agriculture Food and The Marine through Horse Sport Ireland in recent years. Many graduates from this competition have gone on to forge careers within the equine industry in Ireland and abroad.
